Over one Lakh Affected by Chikungunya Disease Nagercoil
About 1.50 lakh people have been affected by the chikungunya disease all over the country and in Tamil Nadu the figure was 11,000, Dr Jagadeesh Ramasamy , Additional Director, Vector borne Diseases, Tamil Nadu, said today.

Andhra and Karnataka are the most affected states, he said.

Preventive measures are on to restrict the spread of the disease in the state, he said, addressing a seminar on sensitization programme for medical staff and students on the chikungunya disease at the Medical College Hospital here.

Special medical teams have been set up at district levels, he added.
