Did you know that, diseases are a result of paucity of minerals in the body? Perhaps the most important function of minerals is to maintain the alkaline body pH.

The appropriate pH level for good health should be slightly alkaline and within the range of 7.1 and 7.4. A pH 7 is considered to be neutral, while a reading below 7 is acidic. If the pH is extremely low and acidic, then it could lead you to feel down in the dumps. Therefore it is imperative to have normal pH levels for the proper functioning of all cells.

It is said that if the pH levels are normal, even cancer cells cannot grow. Nearly 85% of cancer patients portray a significantly low pH level, between 5 and 6. Probably the reason why cancer patients see a marked improvement in their health, after making changes in their diet and lifestyle.

The root cause of many diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer, may be linked to a protein-rich diet. That is why, in developing countries, where plant-food has many takers, diseases like diabetes and cancer are not rampant. It is clear that a high protein intake causes the body pH to turn acidic, which then becomes a hotbed for many diseases.

The key to maintaining an alkaline pH is to adopt a balanced diet. Tea and sea weed are known to contribute to an alkaline pH while foods rich in protein, make the pH acidic.
