Residents Doctors Call Off Strike In Rajasthan

Resident doctors in Rajasthan, including those of SMS Medical College here, called off their strike and returned to work today after receiving the copy of the Supreme Court verdict directing medicos to resume duties.

'Though they have returned to work, their protest would continue with the support of various social and other organizations and relay hunger strike would continue to protest the proposed 27 percent reservation for OBCs under a new banner 'Arakshan Sangharsh Manch', Rashim Kataria, President of Youth for Equality Forum told reporters here.

Outdoor Patient Departments in all hospitals have started functioning smoothly and indoor patients were also being attended to properly, he said.

Meanwhile, irrigation department employees also joined hands with the agitating medicos with five of the department sitting on relay hunger strike today.

Yesterday, seven medical teaching staff had sat on strike at SMS hospital in support of the striking medicos.
