Man Appeals to President to Save His Ailing Son

Jamshedpur (Jharkhand): A man here has made a plea to President A P J Abdul Kalam to end the life of his 12-year-old son suffering from Aplastic Anemia whose medical expenses he cannot afford.

An employee with an automobile major, Ashok Kumar in a letter to the President sent through East Singhbhum District Deputy Commissioner Nitin Madan Kulkarni pleaded for approval for death of his son.

Kumar, a resident of Mahanandnagar, said doctors had suggested bone marrow transplant for which the estimated medical expenses were likely to be about Rs 10 to 12 lakh.

His monthly income is Rs 3,500 and he has sold out his land for treatment of his son.

Failing to get help from anywhere, Kumar appealed to the President to either make arrangement for his son's treatment or allow him to end his life.
