Striking junior doctors formed a human chain to protest quota in higher education while anti-reservationists from the University of Allahabad blocked traffic on the Grand Trunk Road for about half-an-hour today.

Medical services at the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital remained disrupted for the fifth consecutive day as medicos formed a human chain to protest the reservation system. Some protestors even painted slogans on their faces in black ink.

Members of the Arakshan Virodhi Chatra Sangharsh Morcha, a body of anti-reservation students of the university, blocked traffic on the Grand Trunk road causing traffic snarls.

Traffic was diverted during the half-an-hour-long 'chakka jam,' causing problems for commuters.

There seems to be no end to the strike and it seems to be catching momentum. In the process the medical services in many parts of the country is suffering. The students are finding unique ways of protesting and this is catching the imagination of the people and media. It is time that a serious dialogue is called between the Govt and the students on this issue, mere assurance is not going to be enough for the students.
