Former West Bengal Chief Minister Jyoti Basu, who suffered a head injury after a fall at his Indira Bhavan residence, was admitted to a city nursing home for further treatment on Sunday.

Sources said that Basu underwent a check-up on Saturday after falling in the bathroom of his Salt Lake home.

Basu's personal assistant, Joykrishna Ghosh, said the former was stable and that there is no cause for concern.

West Bengal Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi and State Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had earlier called on Basu at his residence. Left Front Chairman Biman Bose had met Basu on Friday.

The Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has also wished him speedy recovery.
