US Woman With Genetic Defect Looking For Healthcare Husband

A US woman suffering from a serious genetic defect says she is willing to marry anyone with a good health plan. She is so desperate that she has uploaded her appeals on the You Tube and also set up a website inviting suitors.

Indeed while President Obama, fighting as he does his own desperate battle for survival, has already pushed his healthcare agenda quite down his list of priorities, it is people at large who have to pay for the nasty political battles on the Capitol Hill.

His brave words in his first State of the Union Address notwithstanding, President Barack Obama seems to remain clueless on the healthcare front.

Terry Carlson, a 45-year-old divorcee, living in San Diego, says on her website, “ When the government indicated that the healthcare bill was now on "life support", a panic came over me. What WILL happen when I loose my Cobra health insurance in a year?

01. WILL I have to sell my house to pay for my healthcare and medications?

02. WILL I end up on the streets? Bankrupt?

American Values Blamed for Healthcare Crisis
To heal our ailing healthcare system, we need to stop thinking like Americans.

Because of various problems, she can’t avail of any state-funded insurance plans. Her disability, a deletion of C4 complement, prevents her from holding down a full-time job. The rare condition leads to frequent infections and severe pain.

Mother of four, Ms. Carlson is working from home for a disabled organization that provides jobs for people with disabilities. But they don’t provide healthcare for their employees.

A year was all left on her federal COBRA health plan before she's kicked off. Her earnings barely cover that plan now, its co-payments and the 16 different medications she said she needs.

“Cobra currently costs me over $400 a month and my medications and doctor co-pays cost me an additional $200, she says in painful detail and declares, “ I will continue on this crusade by putting my face out in the media and as drastic as it sounds, YES, I will marry for health insurance!!! Please help my cause.”

Brad Carlson, Terri's eldest son, said he was "shocked" when he first learned about his mom's proposal. But, he said, he's sticking by his mother.

"We're very proud of her," said Carlson, 26, of San Diego. "Somebody needs to bring this up."

Her proposal has garnered more than 5,000 e-mails from across the globe, all since Sunday, Ms. Carlson said.

She is working with friends to "weed through" the many suitors.
