by VR Sreeraman on Jun 25 2007 6:31 PM

Driven by personal experiences, entrepreneur Christopher Fey has launched an entirely new kind of healthcare company. Its goal is to organize and advance a culture of prevention throughout America and the world -- to change the focus from caring for the sick, to one that encourages people to take early steps to avert illness and enjoy more good years.

This message appears this week in a full-page ad in the international edition of the Wall Street Journal, persuading hospital executives, business leaders and consumers to embrace a prevention-based model of healthcare. This week Christopher Fey, Chairman and CEO of U.S. Preventive Medicine(R) and its subsidiary, Preventive Medicine International (TM), arrived in The United Arab Emirates (UAE) to begin spreading this message to the world. U.S.

Preventive Medicine believes that prevention will not only save lives and extend the period of healthy life, but will also reduce healthcare costs and improve the productivity and vitality of the world.

The UAE has already made positive strides toward embracing a prevention model of healthcare. They currently have nine preventive medicine centers that focus on widening immunization, health screenings, public awareness, research and educational programs. As a result of these measures, The UAE now ranks second among developing countries for the fastest progress in reducing mortality among children below five years of age, as well as fighting epidemic diseases.

Fey supports The UAE and other nations that are working to solve our world's healthcare problems through prevention.

"We believe preventive medicine will contribute to solving the world's healthcare challenges," said Fey. "The UAE is obviously a leader in this effort and they are to be commended for their forward thinking." If you are planning a future story on the world's healthcare challenges, U.S. Preventive Medicine executives are available to comment on prevention and its critical role in helping to solve the current healthcare crisis:
