UK Government Blasted Over 'Blindingly Obvious' Christmas Safety Tips

The British Government has been blasted for printing 150,000 leaflets full of "blindingly obvious" safety suggestions to keep in mind while celebrating Christmas.

The leaves, designed to resemble advent calendars, contain warnings such as, kids could hurt themselves if they fall off rocking horses or ride their new bikes into walls.

"Tis the Season to be Careful" leaflet, distributed in shopping malls and children centres, further put out a word of caution to parents that they could harm themselves with knives while trying to open presents quickly.

While Children's minister Delyth Morgan said it was a reminder for all to help make the festive season "a time for fun and laughter but not tears," Tory junior Children's spokesman Tim Loughton begged to differ.

"This is yet more evidence that the DCSF really stands for the Department that Can't Stop Fiddling," the Telegraph quoted Loughton as saying.

"It is ironic that a Government Department which has become accident prone for messing up test results, pouring millions into databases that don't work and failing to protect our most vulnerable children is now spending thousands on producing leaflets to state the blindingly obvious," Loughton added.
