UK All Set to Introduce Rotavirus Vaccine for Babies

Department of Health United Kingdom has decided to introduce the rotavirus vaccine for infants to protect against illness caused by rotavirus. This vaccine has already been in use and is part of the routine childhood vaccination for infants in The US.

Rorarix, as the vaccine is called is to be introduced in Sept 2013 and will be included in the routine childhood vaccination schedule.

With the inclusion of this new vaccine, it is hoped that this highly infectious stomach bug which is responsible for close to 140,000 diarrhea cases a year, in children below five, will be controlled.
