Two-Year-Old Chain-Smoking Kid Now Addicted to Food
A two-year old Indonesian boy, who hit the news after being pictured chain-smoking cigarettes, has now managed to kick the habit but has picked up a new addiction, food.
Aldi Rizal triggered a major outcry in the country after he found smoking 40 cigarettes in a day, with the Indonesian government launching a campaign to tackle child smoking and also come up with a special rehabilitation program to help his quit the habit. A new documentary that follows up on the case has found that while Rizal has managed to give up smoking, he remains dangerously unhealthy as he has picked up a new addiction – food – and has a big appetite.

Rizal’s mother, Diane Rizal, attributed her son quitting smoking to Dr Kak Seto, who still meets up with the family to ensure that Aldi has not gone back to his old habits. Diane said that though many people attempt to give cigarettes to Aldi, her son refuses them saying that Dr Seto does not want him to smoke.

However she is worried over her son’s food cravings that sees him drink up three cans of condensed milk in a day. Diane revealed that he starts throwing tantrums when refused food, in a way similar to what he did when he was refused a cigarette.

“When Aldi first quit smoking he would demand a lot of toys. He would bang his head on the wall if he couldn't get what he wanted. That's why I get him cigarettes in the first place - because of his temper and his crying. Now I don't give him cigarettes, but he eats a lot. With so many people living in the house it's hard to stop him from getting food”, Diane said.
