A transsexual is claiming that the refusal of the NHS to pay for a breast enlargement procedure contravenes her human rights.
The woman, who is named as only "C" for legal reasons is upset with West Berkshire Primary Care Trust's refusal to pay for the surgery and is all set to legally challenge that decision.

“The authority has failed to appreciate the significant difficulties when a transsexual seeks medical treatment which is for the purpose of resolving their disorder, in contrast with a person who seeks medical intervention for a cosmetic reason to do with their own dissatisfaction with their body image," Miss Harrison told Mr Justice Bean, sitting at the High Court in London.
the Trust has countered by saying that the review would leave it with a huge bill and deny care to emergency cases.
