Doctors' Association has come up in support of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar
Rao's decision to shift the TB and Chest Hospital to Vikarabad.
They have also
accused some Andhra doctors of encouraging protests by staff. It is
learnt that the chief minister is determined to shift the hospital despite
objections by the opposition Congress and TD besides a section of hospital
Samithi (TRS) MP Mr Narasaiah Goud, along with Dr Veeresham, president of Telangana
Doctors' Association and other members met Mr Rao at the Secretariat on
Sources said that the CM was asked to ensure basic amenities
like residential quarters etc. at Vikarabad. They added that Mr Rao is likely to take a decision on utilisation
of the Chest Hospital land in two or three days.
Shabbir Ali, former minister, demanded that Mr Rao immediately withdraw his
'autocratic' decision to shift the TB and Chest hospital.
He said the move would not only severely affect patients but
cost the Osmania Medical Hospital 11 post-graduate seats in pulmonology. Mr Ali
accused Mr Rao of acting like a monarch, if not like Tughlaq who shifted the
capital from Delhi to Daulatabad and back.
