Spending time with parents during the teen years is good for the emotional well-being of teens, a recent study seems to suggest. A study conducted over seven years which looked at the experiences of 200 middle and working class families living in cities and rural areas found that teens do not wish to grow apart from their parents. Infact, teens liked having close relationships with their parents.
The study found that having a close relationship and spending time with parents benefited teens immensely and boosted their confidence and self esteem. Teens that spent time with their dads scored high on self-worth.
