Tandem Diabetes Care Gains USFDA Approval for CGM Integrated Insulin Pump
The US Food and Drug Administration has approved Tandem Diabetes Care’s t:slim G4 insulin pump, the first and only touchscreen that is a hybrid of the popular t:slim insulin pump and Dexcom G4 PLATINUM continuous glucose monitor (CGM).
The device displays the chart of the latest glucose levels on top of how much insulin has been delivered over the same time period.

The device allows diabetic patients to keep a close eye on how their blood glucose levels respond to insulin injections, and makes it easier to achieve optimal insulin dosage from day to day.

The designers aimed for ease of use and the system is intended for use of diabetics as young as twelve years old.

The pump can be used without a paired up CGM, simply losing those features but continues to do its core task.

The t:slim G4 features Micro-Delivery technology capable of providing basal injection every 5 minutes in increments down to 0.001 unit, while holding a reserve of up to 300 units of insulin.
