At the State-run Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, two women died out of complications arising out of swine flu, said the health authorities on September 11.
Of the two, 32-year-old woman from Medak, who had tested positive, died immediately after giving birth to twins at the hospital. Three persons each have tested positive from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
On September 5, the other woman who hailed from Hyderabad had died of complications. The doctors had suspected that the woman could be swine flu positive and had sent her swab samples to city-based Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM) for testing. And the test results from IPM were positive.
From Rangareddy district, one more swine flu positive person was admitted to Gandhi Hospital. Doctors said that her condition was stable and she was responding to treatment. The number of fatalities due to swine flu was two in Telangana, with these deaths.
"Special arrangements like swine flu wards, exclusive ventilators and beds are already in place at Gandhi Hospital. We have also set up separate counters at our outpatient wings only to receive patients with influenza like illness."
"Depending on the severity of their condition, we are collecting the samples for testing or advising them rest and medication. On their behalf, people need to be careful and take adequate precautions," said swine flu nodal officer, Gandhi Hospital, K. Narasimhulu.
