Swine Flu Death Toll Rises to 2,035 in India

Swine flu claims 12 more lives, taking the death toll to 2,035 while the number of H1N1 positive cases inched towards 34,000-mark across country.

According to the data by the Union Health Ministry, as many as 2,035 succumbed to swine flu and the number of H1N1 positive cases stood at 33,761 in India.

Meanwhile, one person each died of swine flu in Jaipur and Bhilwara on March 28 in Rajasthan, taking the death toll due to swine flu to 415 since January this year. A total of 6,559 have tested positive for the virus in the state.

In Gujarat, death toll due to swine flu stood at 428, while the number of H1N1 virus affected people in the state was 6,495 since January. A total of 394 swine flu deaths recorded in Maharashtra, while the swine flu death toll increased to 299 in Madhya Pradesh, where 2,186 people have been affected.

A total of 2,733 have tested positive for swine flu, where 82 have succumbed to swine flu in Karnataka.

The swine flu deaths recorded in Telangana (75), Punjab (53) and Haryana (51), Jammu and Kashmir (18). While swine flu death toll has risen to 25 in West Bengal, 14 in Kerala and death toll in Uttar Pradesh stands at 38.

In Delhi, 12 people have died of the disease while 4,229 have tested positive for H1N1. Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh recorded 22 swine flu deaths and 21 have succumbed to swine flu in Himachal pradesh.
