A survey conducted by the UT Health Department has found that the child sex ratio in Chandigarh is improving significantly. The survey found that the ratio has increased from 845 girls per 1,000 boys in 2001 to 882 girls per 1,000 boys at present.
District Family Welfare Officer Dr Kavita Talwar said the ratio was much better in slum areas with 901 females per 1,000 males. The survey was conducted amongst 5,100 houses with a population of 20,542 people. The figure also included 4,004 children in the age group of 0-6 years.
