Surprise! People Enjoy Sex More Than Housework or Accessing Facebook
People apparently enjoy having sex more than studying, doing chores or accessing Facebook, a new study by University of Canterbury researchers in New Zealand reveals.
Researchers led by Carsten Grimm sent out text messages to people in order to build a map of which activities they found to be the most happiest doing and which were the least happiest. The responses were also measured in three categories, pleasure, engagement and meaning.

The researchers found that sex topped the list in all of the three measurements with drinking or partying coming second in the pleasure category but in 10th place in terms of meaning. Recovering from an illness was the worst ranked activity followed by accessing Facebook and doing household work.

“So far governments around the world and media have focused mainly on life satisfaction in the discussion about well-being; it turns out happiness is a far more complicated topic. One of the areas I’m researching - orientations to happiness - looks at whether there are different ways of going about seeking happiness”, Grimm said.
