Sunshine Could Help Reduce Blood Pressure
Spending less than half an hour in the sun every day can reduce your blood pressure, a new study conducted by researchers at University of Edinburgh reveals.
The researchers suggested that the ultraviolet rays in the sun released stored nitrogen into the blood stream and thereby relaxing the blood vessels and lowering blood pressure.

The researchers said that while there is a risk of skin cancer from excessive exposure to the sun, its benefits of reducing blood pressure far outweighed any potential cancer risks.

“We suspect that the benefits to heart health of sunlight will outweigh the risk of skin cancer. The work we have done provides a mechanism that might account for this, and also explains why dietary vitamin D supplements alone will not be able to compensate for lack of sunlight”, lead researcher Dr Richard Weller said.
