Parents who lay down strict rules and regulations for their kids tend to have slimmer kids, a new study found.
In an attempt to help kids shed off the kilos, American and Canadian scientists set a home-based intervention by shortening TV time, increasing sleep time, and encouraging families to have dinner together, the New York Daily News reported.
AdvertisementResearchers from Melbourne's Murdoch Children's Research Institute said that when both parents set clear guidelines about household routines, children had a lower body mass index and were thinner.
The study is published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics.
