Campaign to Mobilize Youth in Canada to Become Volunteers in Organ Donation
Amar Karma Organ Donation Society (AKODS) launched #OrganDonationIsHeroism, a global social media campaign to educate and raise awareness on organ donation.
The campaign aims to mobilize youth in Canada and abroad to become volunteers and promote the important cause of organ donation and get people to sign-up as donors.

AKDOS is Canada’s first South Asian Organization to target changing cultural mindsets with regards to organ donation. Young volunteers from the GTA Surrey, B.C, Punjab University, Chandigarh and other parts of India have extended their support for the campaign.

Loveen Kaur Gill, founder, AKODS said, “Our goal is to normalize the concept of organ and tissue donation within various communities. It’s not about the numbers, rather it’s about spreading the word about how important it is for us all to come forward to register as donors. This cause belongs to entire humanity.”

Gill said that the campaign asked people from all corners of the world to express their belief in organ donation. “Organ Donation is about creating history, it is about leaving a legacy, a heroic story behind. We’re doing our part, despite challenges,” said Harjot Dhindsa, a volunteer.
