Spider Venom and Breast Cancer Cure
A group of Australian researchers are currently testing whether spider venom can provide a cure for breast cancer.
Researchers at James Cook University in Queensland have been awarded a $200,000 grant from the National Breast Cancer Foundation to conduct a study looking into whether tarantula and funnel web spiders’ venom can be used to develop an effective breast cancer cure.

The study will be headed by Professor Norelle Daly who revealed that she and her team will be looking to find a molecule that can kill off the cancer cells. “What we would hope to find is a molecule that looks promising in killing the cells. You would like to see that you could prevent the cancer from spreading and remove it as well”, she said.
