K P Namboodiri's Ayurvedics, based in southern Indian state of Kerala, is all set to make forays into ayurvedic personal care products as well. The firm is known for its toothpowder. It is also eyeing new markets abroad.

The company's flagship brand K P Namboodiri's Dantadhavachooranam (ayurvedic tooth powder) is the largest selling brand in Kerala's dental care market. It has a presence in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and some other States.

Namboodiri's tooth powder traces its beginnings to some eight decades back, when its founder K P Namboodiri obtained a unique Ayurvedic formulation from an erstwhile royal family.

Namboodiri's, which launched its Ayurvedic toothpaste in Coimbatore city in Tamil Nadu recently, currently exports its tooth powder to Middle-East and Europe

The toothpaste containing natural extracts of black pepper, which is clinically proven for its anti-bacterial powers, amla-a rich source of Vitamic C, with natural astringent properties and clove-the time tested remedy for toothache, was launched in Kerala on Aug 19 last.

The company is to launch the toothpaste in the state capital of Chennai next month.

``We're looking at new destinations to expand our exports,'' said marketing sources of the company.
