A new study conducted by researchers at University of Munich has revealed that the hectic social lives of people, which include tight work timetables and urgent appointments, may be having an adverse effect on their health due to a condition known as social jetlag.
Social Jetlag Due to Hectic Schedules

The researchers said that the biological clock of our body synchronizes itself in three separate cycles coinciding with a 24-hour day. However our social clock is governed by demands of work schedule or social commitments.

The researchers revealed that more than two-thirds of the population in Western societies is not in sync with their biological clock. "Our surveys suggest that in Western societies two thirds of the population is burdened with a significant discrepancy between their internal time and the demands imposed by school and work schedules and leisure stress", lead researcher Professor Till Roenneberg said.
