Binge eating has now been recognized as a mental health issue in the category of eating disorders.
To help with this condition, a new Smartphone App may assist in interrupting the cycle of bingeing.
The App mainly recognizes the triggers and patterns of eating in the daily routine of a victim and will seek to alert the user when there is a tendency to overeat.
This new App, a brainchild of scientists at Drexel University, employs some behavioral therapy techniques and equips people with the tools to better manage their eating habits.
The app acts in a way close to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as it prompts people to record their urges, moods and food consumption.
Hopefully this new App will do a world of good for those who habitually go overboard on food.
