Tittle-tattle or gossip, they say relieves stress and brings a change to an otherwise monotonous day.

A recent study seems to reveal some positives of this rather controversial tendency.

The study on office gossip revealed that gossiping could raise the spirits in office and actually improve bonding between employees, though it cautions against engaging in too much of it.

The study found that to an extent, gossip did encourage co-operation and friendship. It also fostered trust between colleagues in the long run.

Gossip can be both positive and negative; one needs to be careful about negative gossip as this can be a risky affair, especially if it spreads.

Gossiping helped people forge lasting friendships over time, the study revealed.
