Shimla: Scrub Typhus Disease Kills Eight
Officials have confirmed that at least eight people have been killed in Shimla in less than two months due to the high intensity scrub typhus fever.
In past nine months, 2500 samples were recorded at India Gandhi Medical College Hospital in Shimla and over 360 were found positive with this fever.

The number is increasing daily as 16 new cases came to light in Shimla on Monday. In the IGMC Hospital, patients are coming from different corners of the state to get tested.

Other government and private hospitals are also registering serious fever cases but the suspected cases are being referred to IGMC and other hospitals in the state capital for the fever testing.

This high intensity fever is caused due to the mites in the shrubs causing the bacterial (bacteria orientia tsutsugamushi) infection.
