Selfie-Culture Putting Unwanted Pressure on Teens
Researchers have warned that the culture of taking selfies and posting them on social media websites is increasing the pressure on teenagers who are already struggling to deal with peer pressure.
Los Angeles-based child psychologist Karrie Lager said that while selfies are a great way for teenagers to relate with their peers and express themselves, turning them into an obsession can lead to serious negative consequences.

The warning comes after a survey found a link between social media use and drug abuse.

According to results of the survey, around 70 percent of the teenagers between 12 and 17 years of age spend time on a social media website every day, and those who interact on social media daily were five times more likely to use tobacco, three times more likely to consume alcohol and two times more likely to use marijuana.
