Recent research has revealed that those who consume cheese, are 12 percent less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes, compared to those who do not eat cheese.

Cheese seems to have some protective benefit against metabolic disease. The fermentation of cheese and yogurt could be causing a reaction which is protective against diabetes and heart problems, researchers said.
Researchers do see the link between cheese consumption and lowered diabetes risk but more research is required to conclusively prove this connection.
