Saudi Woman Gives Birth to Baby Boy in Mumbai Airport Toilet
A Saudi woman has given birth to a baby in Mumbai airport toilet last Tuesday. An airport housekeeping staff Sweta Satpal found a 20-year-old foreigner in labor, sitting on the toilet seat and giving birth to a baby boy, who was half out, in the washroom outside gate 78.
"The doctors helped the woman get up to deliver the baby, making sure that the newborn did not fall in the commode," said an official.

The incident happened at 1.56pm and the woman was identified as Hayas Alhagbani Saud. Later, she was taken to SevenHills Hospital in Andheri (East) in an airport ambulance, with one more doctor to accompany her.

The situation for Saud, a Saudi Arabia national, would have been more trying had her flight to Riyadh, scheduled at 12.45pm, been on time. According to sources, she had been at the airport waiting for the flight, which had got delayed by five hours.

"Had the flight been on time, she would have gone in labor on board, and then the plane would have had to return or make an emergency landing at some other airport," said a source.

Saud, her mother, brother and sister had arrived in Mumbai from Hyderabad. They were supposed to take an Air India flight to Riyadh.

Saud's mother, who is married to a Saudi national, belonged to Hyderabad and the family had come to India to visit relatives.
