Sanand Remains Under Scanner for CCHF Virus
Health teams collected blood samples of 250 cattle to detect the presence of the deadly CCHF virus, from Kolat village in Sanand and surrounding areas. These samples have been sent to Bhopal and National Institute of Virology, Pune, for testing. Since two more people tested positive for Congo fever, they also carried out close surveillance on people suffering from fever in a 5km radius of Sanand.
Blood reports of 132 people are awaited who came in close contact with the 3 people who succumbed due to Combo fever. While among the 98 people who were kept under observation for Congo fever, only 3 are reported to have mild fever, while the rest of them are getting better.

Health officials said, "There is currently no symptomatic prevalence of the virus in the community in Kolat." Since the virus has a longer incubation period, surveillance in the area will be continued for 14 days.
