 Role Of Nutritionists And Dietitians’ in Improving Quality Of Life
A two-day workshop on “Nutritional and Dietetic Care Model: India vs Malaysia,” was organized by the Department of Food Science, Periyar University on Friday.
Dr. Swaminathan, Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University said, " In the present day Indian context, there is a need to develop and document a standardized nutrition care process to provide safe and effective nutrition care."

At the inauguration of workshop, Dr. Swaminathan said, "The nutrition care provided by the qualified professionals should reflect both science and art of dietetics, to meet the individualized needs of each patient, client and group."

Food habits of the urban population has changed, so the role of nutritionists and dietitians are becoming more important to improve the quality of life of people, by suggesting proper food habits. He also stated that, “There is a demand for nutritional counseling in nursing homes, schools, prisons, community health programs and home health care agencies.”
