Experts have issued a warning about the risk of
complications and multiple births in pregnancies from IVF techniques.
A recent report by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists,
has revealed the elevated risk of premature births, congenital abnormalities
and low birth weight among children born through IVF.
The research showed that congenital anomalies and
heart defects happened to be more common amongst IVF babies
"IVF
pregnancies carry an increased risk of poor birth outcomes and complications.
Nevertheless the majority of the children born following IVF will have a good
outcome just like any other children," said Prof Jenny Kurinczuk, director of
the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit at the University of Oxford.
