Retired Individuals More Generous Than the Youth
Retired people are more generous and tend to support charities, a new study has revealed.
The over-65s donate 0.7 percent of their income despite many not getting a wage, the Daily Express reported.

The research from mutual Foresters found older people - used to supporting families and grandchildren - are the most generous in helping good causes.

Individuals estimate they will have donated 142.53 pounds to charity by the end of 2013, nearly twice the average annual UK donation of 82.83 pounds (0.3 percent of income).

Donating money when a cause appeals and giving items such as unwanted clothing to charity shops (both 56 percent) are the UK's preferred methods of supporting charities.
