Doctor successfully remove most of the 6 kg tumor from the stomach of a 55-year-old man in Chennai.
Chakraborty, a farmer from West Bengal found that his stomach has swollen inappropriately. He was suffering from incessant stomach aches and after visiting several doctors he was detected with a massive tumor that occupied his entire abdomen.
Initially many told him that the cancer cannot be operated and he would die if they operate. But finally he approached Lifeline Hospitals in Chennai where they agreed to do the surgery.
"On investigation, we found he had a liposarcoma of over six kg, and close to a foot in length. We used a new imported hemostatic agent called 'Stops Bleeding' which is a starch called Amylopectin that promotes the clotting of blood. Now, three days after the operation, around 98 percent of the tumor had been removed,"said Dr. Rajkumar, Lifeline Hospitals.
