Raving Hurricanes-The Result Of Global Warming

by Dr. Sunil Shroff on Feb 26 2008 1:01 PM

Studies conducted at Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder says that fervour of hurricanes and rainfalls has been increasing due to years of global warming.

Kevin Trenberth said that, though climate change could not be blamed for the increases in hurricanes, it was definitely leading to wetter, powerful and more dangerous hurricanes.

He pointed out that the total precipitation from hurricanes hitting the US rose by about seven per cent over the course of the 20th century, New Scientist magazine reported.

Trenberth attributed the rise in precipitation from hurricanes to the rise in the sea-surface temperature and atmospheric moisture content, which he said resulted from global warming.

He said that both provided the energy to fuel hurricanes.
