Queen Elizabeth II Awards John Hurt With Knighthood For Services To Drama
John Hurt, the 'Elephant Man' star, has been awarded with knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II. He was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The 75-year-old actor has been awarded for his 'services to drama' and received his honor during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, reported E! Online.

A series of brilliant performances, from the title role in The Elephant Man to the inspiring TV portrayal of Quentin Crisp in The Naked Civil Servant has marked a distinguishing career in the actor’s life.

His role in the special 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who and the Harry Potter series of films has captured more fans for him.

Hurt is halfway through his chemotherapy and has got many tests next week and the actor also revealed that everything is going well and his oncologist is extremely optimistic. The actor appeared onscreen in the '60s and starred in numerous TV shows and movies, primarily filmed in his native England.
