Prince William's Crocodile Rendezvous in Australia

 Prince William
Prince William, who has arrived in Australia for a three-day tour of flood and cyclone damaged regions, will be offered crocodile as part of an afternoon meal.
Despite the seriousness of the royal's visit, locals don't want to pass up a chance to put some quality local tucker on his palate.

Cardwell butcher Callan Ihle is preparing 1500 beef snags ahead of the prince's arrival.

Ihle had offered to put something more exotic on the prince's plate - perhaps a crocodile kebab - but was told a simple snag would suffice.

"We've got a crocodile problem here in town so I thought we could knock one on the head and put it on a stick but other people didn't like the idea as much as I did," News.com.au quoted him as saying.

However, north Queenslanders don't give up that easily and it has fallen to Cairns' chef Craig Squire to try to put some croc on His Royal Highness's plate.

Squire's Ochre Restaurant, which specialises in Australian produce, is catering for a thank-you function for local volunteers, which the prince will attend in the afternoon.

The menu includes: croc wontons, barramundi spring rolls and for less adventurous types - surely not William - satay chicken.

If the Royal is in the mood for sweets he'll be able to sate his cravings with wattle seed pavlova and dragonfruit ice cream.
