Primary Health Centres Are Godsend to Folks In Far-flung Areas Of Kashmir Valley
Jammu-Kashmir's Gandherbal District residents have undergone notable progress in the overall healthcare after apt measures taken by the local administration to rectify existing challenges leading to revamping of the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) with latest amenities.
The state government under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) has established several PHCs.

The PHC at Safapora village, 40 kilometres off Srinagar boasts of qualified doctors and allied facilities.

"The treatment in this hospital is really good. There are enough facilities such as USG, X-rays, pathological labs and the dental section has also been provided. The doctors at the centre are well trained. The doctors also provide free medicines to poor patients," said a patient, Firdous Ahmad.

Families from scores of nearby villages visit this PHC for treatment.

"People from far off places come to this hospital as the treatment is good and all the facilities such as X-rays, blood tests are provided at the centre. We hope that in future, God willing, more facilities will be provided," said Mehraj-Ud-Din, a relative of a patient.

The PHC also organises periodical free mobile medical camps with all facilities including ambulance services, blood tests, X-rays, Ultra sound and dental care in several villages.
