Pregnant Woman Succumbs to Swine Flu in Delhi, Toll Rises to 11
A pregnant woman died of swine flu at Dayanand Hospital in the capital taking the toll to 11 in Delhi.
Hospital officials said, "She was admitted to the hospital in the last week of February with symptoms of fever and respiratory distress. We had immediately put her on Tamiflu suspecting her to be suffering from swine flu. Her samples were sent for testing on February 26. Meanwhile, she delivered a still-born baby and was put on ventilator. She died on February 28."

The total number of swine flu cases this year is 3,806 in Delhi.

A senior health official, said, “There is a significant decrease in the number of cases of swine flu over the past week and we are hopeful that with the rise in temperature the cases would go down further.”

He also added that people should adopt precautionary measures like avoiding crowded places, maintaining hygiene and also to check with a doctor if there is any indicated symptom of swine flu.

Health experts reported that swine flu can affect anyone, it is now a part of seasonal influenza. Pregnant women, diabetics and people with co-morbidities are at higher risk.
