A popular children's doll has been found to contain a lethal chemical, the doll is imported from China and sold in Britain.
This chemical can cause cancer, deformities in babies and infertility in men, a media report said Wednesday.

The "fruit-head" dolls were sold in the West Midlands region, around 170 km from London, the Telegraph reported.

The dolls have been found to contain the chemical phthalates, and British authorities have received many complaints about the dolls.

One mother said her child became ill after playing with one such doll.

Phthalates are used to soften plastics and give them longevity but due to health concerns, the chemical is no longer used in products sold in Europe or the US.

The dolls were imported from China, the daily said.

But most of them do not have markings like those on products that meet European safety regulations, meaning they cannot legally be sold in Europe.

Officials said the dolls were "potentially lethal for children" and urged people who purchased the dolls to return them.
