A kiss from Pope Francis proved to be a miracle for a sick baby in Philadelphia. Joey and Kristen Masciantonio said that after their one-year-old daughter Gianna was kissed by the Pope, her brain tumor shrunk significantly.

Two months after Pope Francis kissed the baby girl on Philadelphia’s Market Street during his World Meeting of Families trip to the city, the tot’s tumor has nearly disappeared.

Gianna’s brain tumor was thought to be inoperable, and doctors had given her only months to live. The tumor formed after her blood-like cells attacked her brain stem weeks after she was born.

Gianna’s mother, Kristen, had dreamed of her daughter meeting the pope. "She was just dead-set," Joey said. "I'm the dad who didn't want to see the pope."

Two months after the papal visit, there are barely any signs of the tumor in Gianna’s brain, the Masciantonio family told NBC Philadelphia. “I think this is all from God. I believe the Pope is a messenger from God,” her father Joey Masciantonio said.
