According to the China Daily, 66-year-old Quan Youzhi lifts a well lid everyday that weighs around 10 kilos and climbs down to her empty home, which measures 3 meters by 3 meters and is about 2 meters high.

Her home is filled with rusty pipes, a few quilts on a thin mat, some candles, two coats and a broken umbrella.

Quan, who makes 20 yuan per day collecting bottles, said that the space is a good place to live in winter because it's warm.

Quan said that she buys food, which is usually steamed bread, and medicine, so she can save very little.
