A picture where a woman, who had undergone a heart transplant surgery, is holding her own heart has gone viral on the internet.

The image was posted by her friend, Kelsey, on photo-sharing site Imgur and shows the woman, identified as Penny, wearing a mask and posing in front of the camera holding her own heart. Kelsey added that her friend wanted to hold on to her heart but strict hospital policy meant that it had to be cremated.

“[Penny] is holding her own heart. She has survived cancer and crippling heart failure and never lost hope. She wanted to keep it but they wouldn’t let her! It had to be cremated but she kept the ashes”, Kelsey wrote.
