Persistent Runny Nose Turns Out to be Brain Leaking Fluid
A man from Arizona, Nagy, was shocked to find that his year long allergies of a running nose were due to brain leaking fluid.
The fluid resembled tears and what started in this manner got worse over time. Allergy medications did not seem to work.

The problem was really worrying him, and he sought the advice of a specialist who tested the fluid leaking out of his nose.

The result showed that the fluid was actually the fluid from the brain which leaked out of a whole in the membrane surrounding the brain fluid. "You don't really think about it, but our brains are really just above our noses all of the time," said Dr. Peter Nakaji, a neurosurgeon at Barrow Neurological Institute.

He needed a surgery to fix the leak, unfortunately at the time of the surgery, Nagy developed meningitis. After the infection was healed, a surgery was performed by inserting a needle through the nose and using a bit of glue the hole was patched.

Some seemingly innocuous allergies like a runny nose can be dangerous especially if it is persistent. It is a wake up call for more investigations if one does not respond to treatment.
