Patient Sues Doctor After Being Saddled With 8-Month Erection Following Surgery
A 44-year old truck driver from Newark, Delaware, has filed a medical malpractice case after his penile surgery left him with a permanent erection for almost eight months.
Daniel Metzgar underwent a penile implant surgery in 2009 with the operation being conducted by Dr Thomas J. Desperito. However the surgery soon became a problem with Metzgar complaining of an infection and the nonstop erection. Though the doctor recommended that Metzgar undergo another surgery to remove the prosthesis, he delayed until August of next year before a punctured scrotum due to the tubing of the device forced him to undergo the surgery.

Metzgar though argued that he did not have the $10,000 demanded by Dr Desperito before he would agree to conduct the surgery, adding that riding a motorcycle, dancing, dressing normally, and even fetching the morning newspaper became embarrassing while he continues to suffer from loss of size even after the second surgery.

“I could hardly dance, with an erection poking my partner. It's not something you want to bring out at parties and show to friends”, Metzgar told the jurors with the case being heard at the New Castle County Superior Court.
