Furious classmates of a teacher trainee student who was gang raped by her teachers over six months, have forced the state’s chief minister to order a magisterial probe into the incident.

According to sources, the girl a Dalit trainee who was studying at a government –run teachers training institute at Patan , in northern Gujarat   recently  disclosed the horrific incident to her classmates.
As news of this spread through the small town , shops and business establishments in the town  shut down on Tuesday in  protest .

Patan district collector Vinod Rao was  then ordered  to conduct a "comprehensive and complete" probe into the allegations. The students of the institute, the Primary Teachers Training College ,  had meanwhile, lost no time in beating up the  six accused teachers before handing them over to the police.
"All those responsible for the gruesome act at the Primary Teachers Training College  girls' college would be brought to book," read an  official statement issued on Tuesday. Meanwhile,  the government  has  appointed six women teachers in the college,  in place of the six accused teachers suspended on Monday.
At the  chief minister  Narendra Modi’s  office ,  it was announced that  the probe would include "six other similar cases that have come to light". A primary  investigation has revealed that  there was much more than the rape of "just one girl".
It also seems that the  college principal's role will also be  under question. Modi  has announced Rs 1 lakh as compensation to the victim. "She has shown exemplary moral courage by exposing those responsible in the case. The Gujarat government takes full responsibility of the girl's mental and physical well-being and education as also her security," the CM  was quoted .
Repercussions of this shocking incident have had their impact on a neighboring institute.  Parents stormed the campus of an ITI at Balisana in Patan district of Gujarat. Here  , a complaint of sexual harassment was  lodged two months back against two teachers.

In response to a closure called by the parents the institute's students , the residents took out a rally and handed over a memorandum to the district collector Vinod Rao. Traders and shopkeepers then downed their shutters.

The victim has  named Manish Parmar, Suresh Patel, Ashwin Parmar, Kiran Patel, Atul Patel and Nahendra Patel as perpetrators of the crime.

Meanwhile the district collector has  said the six teachers accused of rape have already been suspended. He assured that that the district administration would take the "strictest of action that is possible against the culprits because as teachers they were expected to be role models for students".

Gujarat state has seen a spurt in crime against women in the last fortnight. A five-year-old girl was beaten up and allegedly raped in Danilimda area of Ahmedabad .  A man was burnt alive by his neighbors when he tried to stop them from teasing a widow.  In another incident , a 22-year-old woman from Amereli district in Saurashtra  committed suicide because her husband's kin had  repeatedly raped her.
