Paralyzed Man Posts First Tweet Using Eye Movements
A 57-year old man who has been paralyzed for the last seven years opened a Twitter account and posted his first tweet using eye movements.
Tony Nicklinson, who suffered from a stroke during a business trip in Greece and has locked-in syndrome, communicated to the online world with the help of a specially adapted computer recording blinks and tiny head movements.

Nicklinson is hoping to receive a favorable ruling from a court after winning the right to ask a hearing over his request to direct the doctors to end his life. Publishing his first tweet, Nicklinson wrote, “Hello world. I am tony nicklinson, I have locked-in syndrome and this is my first ever tweet.”

His wife, Jane, hoped that joining Twitter would do some good for her husband. “He has never been one to be shy with what he says, this is something where he can do that. He had to be coaxed in to doing it and I hope he will continue, I think it might be good for him. We know that there might be people on there who are very vocal about how they disagree [with him] but we are prepared for that”, she said.
