Ovarian cancer is the deadliest gynecological cancer, but 45% of women in Wales believe cervical cancer is more dangerous, according to new research published at the start of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. Another worrying factor is that just 2% of women believe they can notice a symptom of the disease.
“Not enough women know about ovarian cancer and there is confusion between it and cervical cancer. Make yourself aware and look after your ovaries, so that you have the chance to catch ovarian cancer early and vastly increase your chance of survival," said Gaby Roslin of the charity Target Ovarian Cancer.

Ovarian cancer affects both the ovaries and is referred to as the 'silent killer' as the symptoms go unnoticed until the disease advances.

"If you regularly have difficulty doing up your trousers and perhaps look like you could be pregnant, have persistent tummy pain and feel full or have difficulty eating, it’s best to get checked out," Roslin said.
